Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) gets its name from the milky white sap that comes from the leaves when they are crushed. Milk thistle seeds are a source of vitamin E, silymarin and fatty acids. Silymarin offers antioxidant benefits, which help protect skin from environmental stressors. Vitamin E offers similar protective benefits, and fatty acids help shore up the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
